If a gravity drain hose is connected but the bucket fills, check the full-bucket warning, outlet cap, hose height, kinks and blockage in order. This explains Frigidaire’s gravity-drain guidance; it is not a pump-drain procedure.

A full-bucket warning comes first
When Full Bucket is lit, check whether the bucket is already full even though a hose is attached. Empty and correctly replace it using the model manual. Emptying the bucket alone does not establish that the hose is draining.
Frigidaire explains that collected water normally falls into the bucket; removing the continuous-drain cap and fitting the hose redirects it to gravity drainage. An attached hose and a correctly prepared outlet are separate checks.
Check the outlet cap and gravity route
The gravity hose should stay below the connection, as straight as possible and without kinks. Mark any raised section, furniture or door pinch, and blocked end on your route drawing.
Dust and sludge inside the hose can also obstruct flow. The official guide calls for periodic flushing with clean water. Disconnect, flush and reconnect only as permitted for the particular model and hose.
Record the route and each result
Keep a before-and-after row rather than changing several things blindly. An unchecked field is not a confirmed pass. After correcting a raised section, leave other conditions unchanged and observe hose drainage and bucket level during normal use.
| Check | Record |
|---|---|
| Warning and bucket | Full Bucket, level and emptying time |
| Outlet and cap | Model’s gravity outlet and cap preparation |
| Route | Raised section, kink, pinch and blocked end |
| Hose interior | Flushing and visible debris |
| After check | Hose flow, bucket level and recurrence |
What to do if the bucket fills again
A blocked hose can send water back into the bucket, triggering the full indicator and shutdown. If filling continues, recheck the cap, outlet and route, then send the record to support if the problem recurs.
Stop use around leakage. Do not tilt the appliance, drill the hose or bypass bucket sensing. A pump outlet requires the model’s pump instructions instead of this gravity procedure.
A worked example
Hypothetical route: an outlet at 30 cm feeds a hose crossing a 45 cm storage box. Mark the raised section and establish a permitted lower route rather than tilting the appliance.
