A dirty filter is not automatically a washable filter. Start with the appliance model and the filter part number. One purifier can contain a washable mesh and a cartridge that needs replacement.

What to check first
Samsung’s conventional-filter guide permits washing the pre-filter only. That instruction does not cover every model or newer reusable designs.
A worksheet you can use
Appearance and the word HEPA are insufficient. Fill in these three fields against your manual before cleaning or shopping. A filter fitting the opening does not, by itself, establish compatibility.
| Item | What to record |
|---|---|
| Appliance model | Full letters and numbers from its label |
| Filter part | Existing part number and official compatible-model list |
| Care method | Wash, surface-clean or replace, as specified |
Check in this order
- Switch off, unplug and open only the user-accessible cover
- Record the care instruction for each part. Do not pull apart an integrated cartridge
- Clean only as permitted and dry washed parts completely. Reset the reminder after maintenance, following the manual
If the problem remains
Drying a non-washable cartridge does not prove its performance has recovered. Ask the maker about reuse, giving the part number and what happened. Stop using equipment with damage or a burning smell and seek support.

Three filter parts in the US C545 manual
This example compares the official manual for the US WINIX C545 (120 V/60 Hz). We have not washed a physical filter or tested performance. It does not establish that another market or a variant with the same model name follows these instructions.
| Part and position | Manual's care instruction |
|---|---|
| Pre-Filter · front 01 | Vacuum or use a soft brush. If heavily soiled, rinse in room-temperature water. Do not use soap or detergent. |
| Activated Carbon Filter · middle 02 | Do not wash. The maintenance table treats it as a replacement filter. |
| True HEPA Filter · back 03 | Do not wash. Do not put it in water with the pre-filter. |
Unplug and let the unit cool before cleaning. The rinsed pre-filter must dry for at least 24 hours before reuse.
That drying instruction applies only to the washable pre-filter. Washing and drying a non-washable filter does not establish that its performance has recovered.
First compare your full model name, market and filter arrangement with your own manual. If they differ or remain uncertain, postpone washing and check the instructions for your model.

Common questions
Can I just reset the warning?
A cleared warning does not improve the filter. Perform the required maintenance first, then use the model-specific reset.
