Screen inches alone cannot choose a monitor arm. Check hole spacing, model-specific screws, load requirements and desk attachment conditions.
What to check first
Dell’s U2720Q manual specifies100×100 mm holes and M4×10 mm screws for its described wall-mount kit. These are not universal arm specifications.
U2720Q: 4.4 kg screen weight and a 17.6 kg wall-bracket requirement are different
We checked pages 14 and 30 of the Dell U2720Q/U2720QM manual, Rev. A00 (2020-01), on 2026-10-25. This is a concrete reason not to assume that a 5 kg-rated mount is sufficient merely because the screen weighs 4.4 kg.

The wall-mount section specifies a UL-, CSA- or GS-listed bracket with at least 17.6 kg capacity. That is a requirement for the wall-mount arrangement in this manual, not the screen’s own weight. Do not turn it into a universal four-times-weight rule for desktop arms.
For a desktop arm, this document alone does not confirm a particular pairing. Ask both manufacturers about the exact combination, then check the arm’s lower and upper load limits, added parts, desk material, thickness and fastening requirements. This is not an installation test.

- Ask the seller in writing about missing conditions
- Follow supplied installation/support instructions only after all conditions match
If the problem remains
Do not force a screw that bottoms out. A weak desk, unconfirmed adapter or unstable fixing is a reason to postpone installation.
